The Centre of Excellence for Ceramics is part of the Design and Crafts Council Ireland’s programme of craft courses in Kilkenny.

This project consists of the conservation, restoration and adaptive reuse of a former Bank of Ireland building at Market Street, Thomastown, Co Kilkenny. The completed building will house the DCCI’s ceramics school with a purpose built throwing studio, glaze room, finishing room and kilns all designed around the ceramics production process. The first floor of the old bank building will contain ancillary office and meeting spaces.

The project is currently at detailed design stage and is due for completion in 2026.
