St Finian’s Study Hall, (the former St Patricks Classical School building), is an important Protected Structure constructed circa 1850. It’s elliptical plan and highly mathematical proportional relationships are unmatched in any surviving building of its age in Ireland.

The building itself is based on the pure mathematical form of an ellipse and can be seen as the physical manifestation of the educated Irish looking towards Europe for academic and scientific advancement and the embodiment of a modern, progressive and scientific ethos in place at the time in St Finian Seminary, with studies in advanced mathematics and astronomy

The project seeks to conserve and restore the historic building for use as a new county archive, providing state of the art facilities for the storage, conservation, protection, and viewing of important documents and artifacts from the Meath County Archive collections.
